Crimestoppers welcomes new multi-award winning West Midlands Volunteer Committee Chair

We are pleased to have appointed Mohammed Zafran BEM as the Chair of our West Midlands Crimestoppers Volunteer Committee.

Known as ‘Zaf’, he is a UK Youth and Community Goodwill Ambassador, who has won many national awards for his extensive community and humanitarian work, including a Pride of Birmingham Award and most recently an ‘Asian World-Power’ Award.

Our local Crimestoppers committees help to build, develop and deliver on the work of Crimestoppers nationally.

“It is a great pleasure and honour to welcome such an illustrious Chair to our West Midlands Crimestoppers Committee. Zaf was honoured by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth for his selfless work, done over a decade, which has made a positive difference both locally and internationally to young people and those most in need.

“By having Zaf on board, with his wealth of experience, passion and drive, our West Midlands Committee will go from strength to strength in sharing the Crimestoppers message, as well as increasing the number of anonymous crime reports made to our charity.

“Our Volunteer Committee plays a vital role in supporting local events, facilitating fundraising activities and backing local awareness campaigns, and it provides insights and knowledge on behalf of local communities. Each committee member generously gives freely of their time and skills to make a difference in their local area.”
Alan Edwards, Crimestoppers’ West Midlands Regional Manager
“I feel honoured and humbled to be the Chair for the West Midlands Crimestoppers and I personally feel I can add a lot to the organisation.

“The experience I have working with vulnerable youths and gangs in deprived areas will benefit Crimestoppers, and I will make sure I build a team around me who are dedicated and sincere in trying to reduce crime and also give something back to the community.

“I will keep promoting Crimestoppers on a national and international scale and through my networks. I will make sure there is plenty of awareness for Crimestoppers.”
