Rewards for information

Rewards for information

We pay cash rewards if the information you give to us leads to one or more people being arrested and charged.

Rewards of up to £1,000 are available. The exact amount is determined on a case-by-case basis, and depends on the information you provide and the results this information helps to achieve.

Rewards can only be collected in the UK, Guernsey, Jersey and Isle of Man.

There may be times when information received by Crimestoppers is passed on to our trusted partner organisations. Crimestoppers will only share this information to help keep communities and workplaces safe.

How do I claim a reward?

Due to the payout of a reward requiring action by the relevant law-enforcement agency, it can take a minimum of 16 weeks for you to receive your reward. The rewards process requires you to contact us several times. This helps us to maintain your anonymity.

If you wish to claim a reward:

  • if you phone us, you must ask for a reward code when you first speak to a call agent.
  • If you make your report online, enter 'REWARD REQUEST' in any of the text boxes on the online form. Then, you must create a Keep in Contact account with us. Log back in 24 hours later to get your reward code.
  • You will be asked to call back 8 weeks later, in order to provide enough time for the relevant law-enforcement agency to act on your information. You MUST provide your reward code when you call back, and any time thereafter.
  • At this stage, we will ask the relevant law-enforcement agency whether there has been a positive result. You will be asked to call back 8 weeks later. During this time, we are finalising information with the law-enforcement agency and determining the appropriate reward value.
  • When you call back for the final time, the outcome of your claim and reward amount will be confirmed with you. You will be asked to name a bank branch to visit in order to pick up your reward, and the date when you want to collect it (normally 2 weeks later).

On the agreed date, all you need to do is to go to the agreed bank branch, quote your code and you will be given your cash reward. You will not be asked to sign anything or to provide any proof of your identity.

If a suspect has not been charged, you may be told:

  • Law-enforcement enquiries are ongoing and that you should ring back in another 6-8 weeks.
  • Whether a reward is payable, given that all law-enforcement enquiries have been completed.
