Motorcycle & moped owners: the best ways to secure your vehicle
To secure your motorcycle effectively, consider the following methods:
- Ground anchor: fixed to the floor or wall, it allows you to attach a chain and lock to your bike. Ensure it is correctly fitted to prevent theft.
- Disc lock: clips into place on your bike’s brake disc to prevent the front wheel from turning. While effective, it is not indestructible and can be removed with a hammer or grinder.
- Chain lock: used through the back wheel to prevent wheeled theft. Ensure the lock is taut to an immovable object like a ground anchor or street furniture.
- Cover: instantly makes your bike less attractive to thieves and adds another obstacle for them.
- D Lock: can be used on the front wheel to stop it being wheeled away.
By combining these security measures, you can significantly reduce the risk of your motorcycle being stolen. Always remember to remove the ignition key and lock your bike when not in use.
