Help keep the World Cup safe for everyone

world-cup-violence-2---planned-violence

To coincide with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, we've launched our 'Keep it Football' campaign across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to help ensure that everyone can enjoy the tournament safely.

We want fans to be able to watch the matches and celebrate (or commiserate!) afterwards without feeling unsafe.

However, a minority of supporters let alcohol get the better of them and become involved in violence and public disorder. It’s also well documented that incidents of domestic abuse increase when big sporting events take place. Then, there are the individuals who see high profile football matches as a reason to organise pre-arranged fights, sometimes known as 'meets', between rival supporters.

Such violence and disorder can result in bystanders getting drawn into violent incidents, people feeling vulnerable in their home or out in their local area, and damage to the reputation of football supporters.

Crimestoppers wants everyone to enjoy the atmosphere in their local community without the threat of violence, disorder or other crime.

We’re urging people to speak up to our charity, 100% anonymously, if you know who’s involved in violence.
