Who's stealing motorbikes and cycles in Milton Keynes?
Help identify those involved.
Criminal gangs are stealing cycles and motorbikes to order. They're identifying properties where desirable bikes are kept, then breaking into sheds, garages and outbuildings to steal them.

If you have a bicycle or motorbike, especially a high-value, desirable one, please consider some of the following suggestions, if at all possible:
- Avoid advertising that you have a bike at home:
- Remove car roof racks.
- Create ‘privacy zones’ on apps like Strava to avoid disclosing your location.
- Don’t clean or service your bike in full view of passers-by.
- Be careful on social media that you don’t identify how and where you store your bike.
- Be vigilant in case anyone follows you home from a cycle or bike event.
- Secure your bike properly – preferably with at least two of these methods:
- Ground anchor: fixed to the floor or wall, allows you to attach a chain and lock to your bike.
- Disc lock: clips into place on your bike’s brake disc to prevent the front wheel from turning. While effective, it's not indestructible and can be removed with a hammer or grinder.
- Chain lock: used through the back wheel to prevent wheeled theft. Ensure the lock is taut to an immovable object like a ground anchor or street furniture.
- Cover: instantly makes your bike less attractive to thieves and adds another obstacle for them.
- D Lock: can be used on the front wheel to stop it being wheeled away.
- Register your bicycle with https://www.bikeregister.com/.
- Cover your motorbike so thieves can’t identify the make/model.
- Consider fitting your motorbike with a Thatcham-rated 1 or 2 alarm system with tracking, immobilisation, anti-grab and movement sensors
- If you store your bike in a shed or garage, upgrade your locks or fit a door defender.
- If you park your motorbike on the street, choose somewhere that’s well lit and close to your home.
