We’ve launched a new campaign across the South West to tackle the rising issue of shoplifting and its impact on local businesses, staff, and the wider community.
Our campaign aims to empower local communities to speak out anonymously against shoplifters and those selling stolen goods.
As you have probably seen in the news, shoplifting continues to pose a growing problem across the UK. According to recent data from the British Retail Consortium, shoplifting incidents across the UK rose to 16.7 million in 2024, up from 8 million incidents in 2023, costing the UK £1.8 billion in losses.
We’re highlighting:
- How criminal gangs plan and carry out many incidents of shoplifting.
- That criminals sell stolen goods through online market places and that we all need to be careful when buying items this way.
- How shoplifting results in more expensive goods for all of us.
