Giving information to Crimestoppers is not 'grassing'...
...it could help to save lives.
We've launched a campaign across the North West and North Wales to increase community information given to the charity from those areas most affected by crime.
When someone has information on those who carry out criminal activity in their community, they choose to do one of three things; they either report it to the police, report it anonymously to Crimestoppers - or do nothing.
This campaign seeks to challenge the 'you don’t grass' culture, and encourage those who may do nothing because of fear, apathy or that they don’t want to be involved, to take a positive step to make their community safer by giving their information to us, which is fast, simple, and totally anonymous.
Your information may help save a life.
In many communities there can be a tolerance of crime and a belief that you should not grass. This attitude is often reinforced by criminals who do not care about the harm that they cause to individual lives or their community. Their motivation is to generate as much money as possible - whatever the cost to others.
These criminals are often those who are:
- bringing firearms into the North West
- exploiting children and vulnerable adults
- enabling loan sharks
- involved in modern slavery and human trafficking, and other serious crime.
Living a flash life, whilst leaving behind a trail of misery.
“Although we have seen record numbers of people across the North West and North Wales contacting Crimestoppers over the last year, we have also seen too many lives taken by shootings and stabbings, young people being targeted and exploited by drug gangs, lives lost on our roads because of drug driving, and many lives being destroyed by crime.
“Reporting to Crimestoppers is not “grassing” - it's helping to save lives.
“We understand that for many, it takes a lot of courage to go online or pick up the phone to perhaps report those who you went to school with, live in the same street, or whose children play with yours.
"However, by taking that step you are making your community safer for your family.“Crimestoppers is 100% anonymous. You will never be asked for any of your personal details. Call freephone 0800 555 111 to speak to our dedicated Contact Centre agents at any time, or complete a secure online form here on our website.
"No one will ever know that you have contacted us.”
