Buying puppies online risks harming pets and funding dangerous criminals
Pets can bring joy to the home as they often become a treasured part of the family. However, those who buy puppies online are taking a huge risk, especially during the rush to find the right present at Christmas time.
Unwittingly, those buying pets online are helping to fund organised crime and cruelty to animals.
Alarming data shows more than 2,100 reports of dogs being stolen in 2022. This is according to new research by Direct Line Pet Insurance – which is around six dogs being snatched from their owners a day. Barely a quarter of these were found and returned.
Puppy smuggling, dog theft and illegal breeding are serious crimes.
Please help us to stop organised crime and cruelty to animals by telling our charity what you know, 100% anonymously.
Criminals don’t care about the welfare of animals. Puppies they sell are often not vaccinated and have not been properly socialised. This harms their future in terms of coping with normal ‘life’ situations and also increases the spread of disease and costly, worrying long-term health issues. Your new puppy may get ill or die prematurely.
Help stop the cycle and the demand. This can be done by checking out the many charities that rehome rescued pets or, purchase one through an authorised breeder.
If you have information about those involved in organised dog theft, puppy smuggling or illegal breeding and wish to remain anonymous, you can contact us on the phone or online.
