Tackling crime together with Altia

Crimestoppers and leading intelligence software company Altia continue to work together to keep companies and communities safe.

Altia and Crimestoppers have been working together for almost 18 months to help keep businesses and communities across the country safe from crime.

In winter 2022, Altia generously sponsored the Crimestoppers’ Annual Dinner event, and will continue to support the charity again this year. This event enables partners and stakeholders to meet, exchange ideas, talk about common challenges, solutions and discuss ways of working.

As an independent charity, Crimestoppers works with police forces and other law enforcement agencies across the UK, along with high-profile corporations and public sector bodies, to tackle crime and wrongdoing. We provide services which enable people to tell us what they know, 100% anonymously. We also work with partners to share relevant information, including public facing and dedicated whistleblowing services, with the aim of identifying culprits and emerging crime trends.

Altia has a suite of software options, including an in-field digital intelligence application – Verinote – which is used by numerous organisations and charities, including the RSPCA, which helps with their investigations into animal welfare.

Grainne Casey, Head of Special Operations at the RSCPA, commented:

“Altia’s support at the RSPCA enables us to carry out the best possible investigations to hold people accountable for wrongdoing. Working with Altia has helped us save valuable time and our officers are now able to record information that can help to detect crime much faster.

“Before we adopted the Verinote software, our frontline rescue officers were using paper pocket notebooks to record information for investigations and we lost a great deal of time and resources having to collect, store and securely dispose of these. Our RSCPA inspectors and investigators are now able to increase their operational capacity and dedicate more time to preventing atrocious crimes towards animals.”

Mark Hallas OBE, Crimestoppers' Chief Executive, said:

“Crimestoppers and Altia are committed to helping tackle crime that harms business and hurts communities.

“Central to this is working together to improve our understanding of evolving threats and risks, especially in sectors such as retail, social housing and health. I’m delighted our partnership remains strong. By learning from each other, we can continue to support people and companies to help protect themselves and stay safe.”

Rob Sinclair, Chief Executive of Altia, said:

“At Altia, we’ve long admired Crimestoppers’ dedication to making it safe for individuals and communities to talk about crime.

“For almost three decades, our software has been empowering organisations to improve their investigations and make the most of digital advances. But all our technology would achieve nothing without information and intelligence being at the heart of it. The work Crimestoppers and Altia do really goes hand-in-hand and I’m incredibly excited to see how our partnership continues to develop.”
