Testimonials: what people are saying

On being a volunteer:

I love the fact that with Crimestoppers you know that the results of what we do benefit every aspect of society. I also find the very tangible impact of our results very rewarding, and the flexibility of the commitment is ideal for somebody running their own business. As a volunteer, there are plenty of opportunities to apply my marketing and PR experience.

On being a work experience student:

Working with Crimestoppers has not only given me an opportunity to explore what the charity does and how it works, but I have also gained experiences and knowledge that will benefit me in future jobs and charity work. For me, the greatest achievement I have gained during my time with the charity is confidence. Confidence to express myself and challenge myself to do my best work. Additionally, it was great to work with so many fantastic people and learn from them! I have really enjoyed my time with Crimestoppers, and I hope I have the opportunity to work with them in the near future!

On running the London Marathon:

Having previously gone up to support friends doing the London Marathon, I decided that I wanted to have a go, too! I wanted to fundraise for charity as part of the effort. When I saw Crimestoppers on the list of charities I knew it was the one for me. I had a good understanding of what Crimestoppers does from years in the police, and used to include the charity’s anonymous phone number when writing appeals for witnesses to serious collisions.

On our youth service, Fearless:

Many young people are so worried about others being able to identify them, that an anonymous service is very useful.

On our Train the Trainer programme run by our youth team, Fearless:

I thought [the training] was excellent...the presentation was very engaging and pitched at the right level for the audience. I found the input around your online resources particularly useful. The resources will be a huge benefit to the cadet programme.

On one of our fugitive campaigns:

Fugitive Wayne Smith was sentenced to seven years and ten months imprisonment, Julie Skelding to two years and two months. Without a doubt the Crimestoppers campaign is responsible for the publicity that was generated which forced the two to come back to the UK from Cyprus to face justice.

Your campaign Operation Zygos was invaluable to us. Thank you very much indeed for your help. I have a family here that have received justice after seven years as a result.
