Morrisons CCTV vans encourage people to tell us what they know

Identify. Deter. Protect.

Morrisons and Crimestoppers have worked together to identify and address incidents of crime since 2014. In the last nine years, information about crime that takes place in and around Morrisons supermarkets has been shared with the Morrisons Security Team so that they can help eradicate crime that impacts their business and customers.

We are delighted to announce Morrisons’ introduction of five CCTV vans that will operate across the UK with the aim of deterring and identifying crime and protecting their customers, continuing our good work. The vans promote Morrisons’ partnership with Crimestoppers, as well as the charity’s telephone number and website, giving people the peace of mind that they can tell us what they know, 100% anonymously.

The CCTV vans will travel around the country to raise the profile of Morrisons and their desire to deter crime, as well as Crimestoppers, who can take information and pass it on to the relevant partner to investigate and address.

To date, Morrisons has had a number of positive outcomes as a result of the information they have received from Crimestoppers, and we look forward to continuing to work together to keep communities safer together.

Carl Probert, Morrisons Corporate Protection Manager, said:

“Morrisons has worked with the charity Crimestoppers for almost 10 years, with the aim of deterring and identifying crime. The partnership has gone from strength to strength in recent years, as more information is shared, and more positive action is taken. This protects not only the Morrisons business, but also our staff, customers and those who live near our stores.

“In July 2023 a new initiative was implemented, whereby 5 CCTV vans were introduced to regions across the UK promoting the partnership between the organisations. The vans can be moved to locations where there are issues of crime, to stop the incidents from continuing, or to catch those committing the crime on camera so that the relevant action can be taken. The Crimestoppers telephone number and web address is also promoted on the vans, so if anyone has information on crime happening in the area (or anywhere), they will know that they can contact Crimestoppers, 100% anonymously.

“This is a really positive step in our partnership, and we look forward to continuing to work together to reduce the impact of crime.”
