Help keep our ports secure

The PortSafe Powered By Crimestoppers reporting line is helping to keep our commercial ports and facilities secure by empowering those working in or around ports to speak up about their crime concerns, 100% anonymously.

As the second largest in Europe, handling more than 500 million tonnes of freight and over 60 million international and domestic passenger journeys every year, the UK ports industry is an attractive target for criminals. This could involve potential insider threat concerns or unusual security-related activity relating to people or goods.

Working in partnership with the National Counter Terrorism Border Policing Services team within the Joint Maritime Security Centre, the PortSafe Hotline (0800 141 2927) and online form were therefore developed to provide a dedicated line for senior managers, security professionals and staff at all levels working within or visiting a commercial port or facility to raise matters of concern anonymously.

With a single branding and a straightforward concept, PortSafe adopts a collaborative approach between law enforcement, first responders, partner agencies and industry to provide a benchmark of security within UK commercial maritime ports and facilities.

PortSafe aims to support and encourage individuals working in or around UK ports to have the knowledge and power to recognise when something is out of the ordinary, and when something does not feel right, the ability to tell someone with 100% anonymity.
