Seven years on: Crimestoppers increases reward to £30,000 in father and son murder inquiry

We've taken the unusual step of increasing our reward to £30,000 for information that could finally bring justice in the murders of West Sussex father and son Daniel and Liam Poole.

The pair disappeared while on a trip to Spain seven years ago and, despite significant investigative progress, their family are still searching for answers.

Daniel “Danny” Poole, 46, and his son Liam, 22, travelled from Burgess Hill in West Sussex to Málaga on 31 March 2019. After landing, they hired a grey Peugeot 308 (registration 0254KTM). The car was later found abandoned by Spanish Police, while their luggage which included their passports, was discovered in their hotel room in Estepona.

In 2022, Sussex Police authorities reclassified the case as a murder investigation. Two men - one from West Sussex, one from Merseyside - were arrested in December 2024 as part of ongoing enquiries.

Now, to help secure the final crucial details needed to identify and convict those responsible, the reward has been significantly increased to £30,000 by Crimestoppers, which is a charity, independent of the police.

Give information anonymously

“Danny and Liam’s family have lived in uncertainty for almost seven years. They deserve to know what happened.

“The reward has been significantly increased to encourage anyone holding back to come forward. Even the smallest detail could make all the difference in finally bringing those responsible to justice.

“Please remember, when you get in touch with Crimestoppers, you stay completely anonymous. That means no comeback. We’ve kept our promise to guarantee anonymity since we were established over 38 years ago.”

Annabelle Goodenough, Crimestoppers Sussex Regional Manager

The £30,000 reward will be available for information passed exclusively and anonymously to Crimestoppers that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murders of Daniel and Liam Poole.

Lauryn Poole, Danny’s daughter and Liam’s sister, said:

“Not a day goes by when we don’t think about Danny and Liam. Living without answers has been agonising. We need to know the truth, for them and for our family’s peace of mind.

“If you know something, however small, please contact the charity Crimestoppers anonymously. Your information could be the key to finally giving us justice we’ve waited almost seven years for.”

We're urging anyone with details, however small, to come forward. Even a detail that might seem insignificant could hold the key to finding long-awaited answers and seeing justice served.
