Fresh appeal 30 years on: Crimestoppers offers £20,000 to help solve the mystery of Melanie Hall’s murder

As a charity, independent of the police, we're launching a renewed appeal for information on the unsolved murder of 25‑year‑old Melanie Hall, nearly 30 years after she disappeared from a Bath nightclub.

Melanie HallMelanie Hall

Melanie, from Bradford Leigh near Bradford-on-Avon, was last seen in the early hours of 9 June 1996, sitting on a bar stool at Cadillacs nightclub in Bath. She never returned home.

Thirteen years later, on 5 October 2009, a workman discovered black bin bags containing human remains on the northbound slip road of the M5 near Thornbury, South Gloucestershire. The remains were later confirmed to be those of Melanie Hall.

Crimestoppers is now offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information given exclusively and anonymously to us that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for Melanie’s murder.

Do you have information but don't want to speak directly to the police? You can tell us what you know and remain 100% anonymous. Guaranteed.

Call Crimestoppers free, any time, on 0800 555 111, or complete our quick and secure online form here on our website:

Give information anonymously

“It’s been 30 years since Melanie’s family last saw their much-loved daughter and sister.

“The pain of not knowing what truly happened - or who was responsible - continues to this day.

“We know that after all this time, someone out there still holds information that could finally help uncover the truth.

“Crimestoppers exists so that you can share what you know and stay completely anonymous. We are completely independent of the police, and we guarantee that you’ll stay 100% anonymous when you contact us. No one will ever know who you are, - we just need to know what you know.”

Karen Macdonald, Crimestoppers South West Regional Manager

We're urging anyone with details, however small, to come forward. Even a detail that might seem insignificant could hold the key to helping Melanie’s loved ones find long-awaited answers and to seeing justice served.

Anonymity

Crimestoppers guarantees complete anonymity, meaning that people who call or contact us online can pass on what they know without ever giving any personal details. Computer IP addresses are never traced. Telephone calls are never recorded, there is no caller line display and no 1471 facility.

Claiming a reward

The reward will only be payable for information passed directly to Crimestoppers and not to the police. A reward code must be asked for when calling our charity on 0800 555 111. If you contact us via our online form anonymously, the 'keeping in contact’ facility must be used and a reward code must be requested on your initial contact.

More details about the rewards process – at the heart of which is ensuring you stay 100% anonymous - can be found here.
