The suspect on a motorbike
On 18 January, three men travelled from Birmingham to Gloucester, where they shot a man outside his home. The shooting is thought to have been a case of mistaken identity and the victim, who is entirely innocent of any criminal involvement, has been left traumatised, with extensive leg injuries which might mean his leg has to be amputated.

Two step-brothers from Birmingham, Simeon Bernard, aged 39, and 42-year-old Darren Atkins have recently been jailed for their part in the shooting. However, there was a third person involved who has not yet been identified.

After the shooting, the three men travelled on two motorbikes to Atkins’ home in Birmingham. A local taxi was called and it is believed that the third suspect got in and was subsequently dropped at the junction of Churchill Road and Morris Avenue in Walsall.

As a charity independent of the police, we at Crimestoppers are supporting the investigation by offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information we exclusively receive which leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone else linked to this incident.

Give information anonymously

“This is an alarming case where someone has been shot and seriously injured, and this is why our charity has now become involved.

"We believe there are people who know who else was involved but who feel that going to the police is not an option. Do you know who the third person was? Have you heard anything about what happened?

"Coming forward is never easy, but if you contact Crimestoppers, you can still make a difference whilst remaining completely anonymous. You may also be eligible for a reward of up to £20,000 if your information leads to the conviction of the third man involved.
