Local people urged to help make Cleveland safer by speaking up anonymously
We've launched a campaign throughout Cleveland to stop organised immigration crime gangs profiting from the people who are brought into the country illegally.
Criminal gangs can make vast amounts of money from bringing vulnerable people illegally into the country by various means of transport, such as lorries, other commercial vehicles, ferries, trains, planes and boats.
These criminal gangs don’t care about their victims; they falsely promise safe passage, exploiting vulnerable people into making risky journeys, with some tragically losing their lives.
Once these immigrants arrive, they can then be exploited and forced to work for little or no money, often in poor conditions, and often being made to take part in criminal activity such as money laundering, cannabis cultivation, begging and shoplifting gangs, and the sex industry.
Do you have information on who is responsible for organised immigration crime? Information that can help includes:
- How illegal migrants are entering the country (ferry, lorry, small boat/plane).
- Once in the UK, what mode of transport is being used (if road vehicles, the make, model and registration number)?
- What routes are the vehicles using and what locations they are heading for?
- Who in the community is involved in illegally bringing these vulnerable people into the UK?
- What social media platforms are being used by the criminal gangs (Tik Tok, Facebook, messaging apps)?
- Are haulage companies, HGV drivers, small boat providers, solicitors, involved or being coerced to help these criminal gangs?
- How are these organised criminals managing their illicit finance (money laundering methods, bitcoin)?
Detailed anonymous community information plays a major role in stopping organised immigration crime.
