Crimestoppers & Merseyside football clubs launch ketamine campaign
A youth football tournament has been held for schools across Merseyside to launch a new initiative in the Four Clubs One Goal partnership about how ketamine can destroy lives and cause serious health issues.
The partnership, comprising Liverpool FC Foundation, Marine in the Community, Everton in the Community and Tranmere Rovers in the Community, began in October 2021 and has been working with Crimestoppers to make Merseyside safer over the last 3 ½ years.
The campaign is using social and traditional media and being integrated into each of the club’s programmes to spread awareness across Merseyside and to increase reporting to Crimestoppers and Fearless.
The football was interspersed with an impactful session delivered by individuals who had suffered from ketamine addiction, which really brought home to the young people the devasting effects of addiction.
The tournament was attended by Emily Spurrell, Merseyside Police & Crime Commissioner, and was featured in the Liverpool Echo and on Merseyside radio, with the medals and trophies being presented by former England and Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland
The Four Clubs, One Goal initiative is supported and funded by the Steve Morgan Foundation, the Hemby Trust, Liverpool FC Foundation and Merseyside PCC.
