Whistleblowing: Health regulator criticises culture at NHS hospital
Workplace wrongdoing has serious consequences for staff and everyone who uses the organisation’s service.
This week, the Care Quality Commission (CQC), issued a report that found staff at hospitals run by Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust were encouraged not to speak up over allegations of bullying.
Ann Ford, Director of Operations in the North for the CQC, said: “Some staff told us that bullying was a normal occurrence, and they were encouraged to 'turn a blind eye’."
A BBC report mentions that, nevertheless, concerns were raised by whistleblowers regarding the culture at the hospitals, specifically about bullying and harassment and safety concerns.
Strong and trusted workplace whistleblowing services are crucial to keep staff safe.
Crimestoppers is proud to run a range of services to support companies and public sector organisations to root out wrongdoing.
