New campaign launched to keep Watford safe

Crimestoppers campaign

We have launched a new campaign dedicated to residents of Watford. Our charity – which is independent of the police – is appealing for communities to unite in taking a stand against crime and reporting when they see anything which they believe to be a crime or suspicious activity.

Watford has always been a lively town with a diverse population. Great transport links into London and around the town itself also provide opportunities for crime to spread.

Keeping communities safe in many towns remains a challenge, but our charity gives residents an option to pass on what they know whilst staying 100% anonymous. Always.

We have always kept our promise of anonymity to the millions of people who have trusted our service since we began in the 1980s. This campaign has been funded by Hertfordshire Constabulary as a way of ensuring people who might otherwise stay silent are aware they can use the Crimestoppers’ alternative, anonymous route to speak up when they know about crime.

We guarantee total anonymity, meaning that people who contact us via our website or call 0800 555 111 can pass on what they know without ever giving any personal details. Computer IP addresses are never traced. Telephone calls are never recorded, there is no caller line display and no 1471 facility.

“By working with Hertfordshire Constabulary we aim to help make Watford safer by reducing crime and anti-social behaviour and giving people a greater sense of pride in their communities.

“We believe it’s really important that local people know that if they prefer not to contact the police, then they have a voice to speak up to our charity about their crime concerns whilst staying completely anonymously.

“Some people have information about crime but feel they don’t have anywhere or anyone to turn to. Please remember that the charity Crimestoppers and our Fearless.org service for young people are here to help. We do not judge or take any personal details from those who contact us. All we want is the information you have. You will stay 100% anonymous. Always.”
