Help stop violence against women & girls in the North East of England

We’ve launched a campaign in the North East of England to highlight what violence against women and girls and sexual harassment involves. 

Violence against women and girls is behaviours which are committed primarily, although not exclusively, by men against women. 

Our campaign is taking a comprehensive approach to raise awareness and drive reporting on crimes associated with violence against women and girls, as well as working with our partners to signpost to support avenues available for victims. 

Domestic abuse

Domestic abuse can be physical, psychological, emotional, sexual or financial. It affects one in four women and one in six men during their lifetime. It’s estimated that a typical victim endures up to 35 assaults before speaking up, and in some cases, it can result in death. 

Often neighbours, colleagues, friends and family have suspicions, but are reluctant to get involved because of embarrassment, split loyalties or fear of reprisals.

We're encouraging people in the North East of England to find out more about domestic abuse and learn the signs to spot, so that if you do see something, you can speak up and tell us what you know. 100% anonymously - guaranteed.

Sexual harassment

Sexual harassment in all its forms can have serious and lasting effects on its victims. No matter your age, gender or sexual orientation, it can happen to anyone – it’s never OK.
