Volunteer Awards 2026

Volunteer Awards 2026

Here at Crimestoppers, we believe everyone has the right to feel safe from crime, wherever they live.

Our unique service gives people the power to speak up and stop crime – 100% anonymously. We couldn’t engage with the communities that need our service most without the help of our volunteers.

That’s why we launched the Crimestoppers Volunteer Awards, now in their seventh year.

Entries this year were judged by our CEO Mark Hallas, Volunteer Manager Silvia Vergara, Trustee Peter Clarke and Lead Volunteer Phil O’Shea.

...and we're delighted to announce our winners!

After reading through all the nominations, the judges agreed that the quality of the nominees was incredibly impressive, and coming to their decisions was once again a challenging, and humbling, task.

The Carolyn Randall Volunteer of the Year Award

Julie Davison, Durham & Darlington Committee.

Julie Davison

“Her compassion, commitment, and willingness to give her time make a real difference — and she always does it all with a warm, friendly smile.”

Overview

Julie’s strengths are many: she is an enthusiastic multitasker, dependable, an excellent listener, and has a natural ability to connect with people at events. Her thoughtful reflections after each event help us decide where best to focus future efforts, ensuring that both our time and committee resources are used to achieve maximum impact. Her input into the creation of the committee delivery plan is also invaluable. She brings clarity, organisation, insight, and good humour to every meeting and every event. Julie is truly a gem of an all rounder. Her commitment, initiative, and passion are felt by every member of the committee, and our ability to function so smoothly is in no small part thanks to her.

Youth Volunteer Award

Goudie Academy.

Goudie Academy

“The changes they shaped are now live and supporting young people across Scotland and the wider UK.”

Overview

After taking part in a session about Fearless, the young people chose to represent the charity as part of their Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) project. As part of the YPI process, pupils explored Fearless in more depth. They have not simply taken part in a project, they have led change that is now benefiting young people far beyond their own school and right across the UK.

They have gone far beyond what could ever be expected of a youth volunteering role. They have created meaningful, lasting change that will make it easier for other young people to be heard, to be understood and to be safe. In doing so, they have also shown exactly what young people are capable of when they are trusted to lead and we could not be more proud of them.

Fundraiser Award

Krystal Keeley, West Country Committee.

fundraiser

“Krystal is incredibly passionate about the charity and plays an active role across a number of different areas, always bringing energy and commitment to everything she does.”

Overview

Krystal has made a significant and sustained contribution to our fundraising activity, particularly through her role as Theatre Ticket Coordinator, which she assumed 2 years ago. She approaches this role with enthusiasm and efficiency, ensuring that no opportunity is missed and that supporters are well managed and engaged. The scale of the income generated speaks for itself — raising over £5,000 in the last year alone — but what is equally impressive is the care Krystal takes to maintain positive relationships with supporters and partner venues. Her ability to balance organisation, responsiveness and warmth has been key to the continued success of this initiative.

Unsung Hero Award

Celia Muir, West Merica Committee.

Celia completes all financial needs for the committee and attends the meetings and events, such as the volunteer event at the Guild Hall in Worcester and does so without want or need for recognition but simply because she is passionate about what we do and helping her local community. Celia has been committed to Crimestoppers for over 10 years and is still as passionate about her role as ever. Celia is very modest and is a truly valid member of the committee.
