Community fundraising ideas

A collection of fundraising ideas involving friends and family.

To help you raise as much money as possible for our crime-fighting cause, we’ve compiled a list of fundraising ideas to help you rope in your friends, family and your local community. From criminal minds quiz nights to crime and dine dinners, we’ve got something everyone.

Got some ideas to share or want to help raise money for crimestoppers? We would love to hear from you!

Heroes and villains party night

Set a date and encourage friends and neighbours to come over dressed as their favourite ‘goodie’ or ‘baddie’ film or TV character! Ask each party-goer to make a suggested donation of £1 to Crimestoppers to attend.

Crimes against fashion party night

Ask friends and neighbours to come over in their most incriminating outfit from the past! Ask each guest to make a suggested donation of £1 for taking part and why not award a prize to the worst offender.

Bake it or fake it

Add a twist to an afternoon tea party by asking friends to bring over baked or bought cakes and treats! Ask guests to donate £1 for each item and an additional £1 to guess if the item has been baked or faked (shop-bought).

Criminal minds quiz night

Set up a quiz night with crime themed rounds and see if you can you outsmart your friends! Ask each team to donate £10 to take part and consider rounds like:

Name the famous detective
Name the crime TV programme (missing letters of titles)
Match the kids’ TV/film villain to the TV show/film
True or false/Is this illegal? Examine laws from across the world and guess if real or not.

Coins for Crimestoppers

Place a Crimestoppers donation box inside your front door and encourage family members and guests to donate unwanted copper coins to our cause.

Crime fiction book club

Challenge your local book club to dedicate a month’s book slot to a scary tale! Ask members to make a £1 donation when taking on this challenge.

Crime fiction recycling

Ask friends and neighbours to donate unwanted crime fiction books and hold a crime-fighting book sale.

£1K in a day challenge

Crimestoppers take an average of 1000 pieces of information from members of the public each day. Why not set yourself a £1000 challenge to help us continue taking these valuable calls. Run, sky dive, or swim yourself up to £1000 to support local communities to stay safe and have a voice against crime.

Crime and dine dinner

Invite friends to dress up as their favourite fictional crime character and join you for a dinner party. Request a donation from all guests to support crime-stopping in your community.

Film noir night

Invite friends over to watch a scary crime thriller and ask for a donation from people to view and a further donation if they scream!

Auction of promises

Arrange a night in with the neighbours and ask them to come round armed with their talents, promises and good deeds. Each guest must present their promise; be it a day’s gardening, a haircut, or tackling a pile of ironing and then let the bidding begin to raise funds for Crimestoppers.

Give it up for Crimestoppers

Seek sponsorship for giving up a personal vice to help raise money for Crimestoppers. Stop smoking, cut out a favourite food or give up a home comfort to help us to continue combating crime in your community.
