Help prevent burglary, robbery and theft in Wiltshire
We've launched a new campaign in Wiltshire to help local residents to speak up and help prevent and reduce burglary, robbery and theft in their local community.
Behind each of these crimes lies hardship, shock and loss of essential or sentimental items, along with fear and sometimes injury.
Our campaign, made possible due to a grant from Sovereign Network Group, aims to raise awareness of how the public can help to keep their community safe from these types of crime.
Criminal gangs target the most vulnerable in our communities and our campaign aims to gather information about who's behind house burglaries, breaking into sheds and garages, keyless car thefts or threatening people in order to steal their phones, watches or bags.
If you have any information about these people, or those who are selling stolen items such as power tools and jewellery, you can tell us what you know 100% anonymously.

What’s the difference between burglary, theft and robbery?
All three crimes are when property that belongs to someone else is stolen, and each of these crimes often causes hardship, as well as emotional distress which can make someone feel unsafe in their own home or in their local community.
- Burglary is the legal term for when a property is entered in order to steal
- Theft is when something is stolen without force being used
- Robbery is when force is used, or the victim believes force will be used
These crimes are not victimless. It’s incredibly traumatic to lose valuables and important personal items – and the emotional shock of having your property invaded, or being threatened with violence while items are stolen from you can also be deeply upsetting.
How you can help
You can help protect your community by speaking up anonymously if you have any information about the people planning and carrying out these crimes, or those who are selling stolen items such as power tools and jewellery.
You can tell our charity, 100% anonymously, if you know:
- Of a planned break-in or have seen suspicious activity
- The names of anyone involved in burglaries
- Those carrying out phone or bag snatching
- The people stealing bikes or vehicles from sheds or garages
- Who is selling stolen property, perhaps via online marketplaces
- Of anyone involved in gangs targeting vulnerable people
- Neighbours with unexplained wealth on your street
We guarantee you’ll remain 100% anonymous. Always.
When you contact us, we won’t judge or ask for any personal details. All we want to know is what you know. That means: No police contact. No witness statements. No courts.
Help keep your and your neighbours safe by reporting what you know to Crimestoppers: it’s fast, simple, and anonymous.

In an emergency, or if you see a burglary, theft or robbery taking place, call the police on 999 or 101.
With Crimestoppers, personal details are never asked for or stored thanks to our promise of total anonymity, and we're also completely independent of the police.
Please note: computer IP addresses are never traced, and no-one will ever know you contacted Crimestoppers. For telephone calls, there is no caller line display, no 1471 facility and calls have never been traced.
If you're a victim of one of these crimes, Victim Support can help. They say: "Some people blame themselves if they forgot to secure a window or door, or if they were tricked by the burglar, but it’s important to remember that it’s not your fault."
