How do I work with the police?
We have received feedback from Kent and Tyne and Wear with regards to how they work with their police forces. This is what they told us:
Kent
In terms of information sharing/investigation, Kent FRS works with the CLO or CSU Sergeant.
In terms of marcomms, Kent FRS has shared their FireStoppers toolkit with the police as follows:
- Shared with all the district Community Liaison Officers (12 in total).
- Shared through Community Safety Units.
- Shared through Community Safety Partnerships.
- Collaboration with their My Community Voice platform home page - My Community Voice Kent.
- Shared with Kent Community Safety Team (KCST).
- Through Kent FRS liaison officers in the Medway and Margate Task Forces.
Tyne and Wear
Tyne and Wear FRS doesn’t have a FireStoppers partnership per se with Northumbria Police; we refer to them on an ad-hoc basis with regards to any FireStoppers reports. We have great relationships between the local policing teams and the station managers, so the connections and infrastructure were already there to manage any actions.
If, as a FireStoppers partner, you have additional advice to add to this page, please let annette.booysen@crimestoppers-uk.org know. All information can be useful to help your Fire Service colleagues across the UK get the most out of this initiative.
