Long-term Crimestoppers champion prepares for the Great North Run

Our charity benefits every year from money raised by runners at events such as the London Marathon and the Great North Run - and this year is no exception.

All funds help Crimestoppers reach our goal of making communities safer by encouraging those who might otherwise stay silent to contact our charity anonymously.

Stephen

A long-term champion of Crimestoppers is Steve Shackell, Director of Intelligence & Risk at Zinc Systems and also owner of Steve Security Consulting.

Having previously completed the London Marathon in 2021, Steve is running this year’s Great North Run on Sunday 8 September for our charity.

Steve told us:

“I’m taking part in the Great North Run this year to help raise the profile of the amazing Crimestoppers and also to raise some valuable funds towards its operation.

“I’ve had a long association with Crimestoppers spanning nearly 15 years, through my various law enforcement and private security roles in the UK, and am proud to be an ambassador for them.

“I received a challenge from a Crimestoppers team member to represent the charity at the London Marathon a number of years ago and promptly accepted. Having once been told by a physiotherapist ‘you’re not built for running, Steve’, it was my opportunity to prove them wrong!

“Since then, I’ve been hooked and have since taken up triathlon! I’m now looking forward to embarking on my first Great North Run.”
