Crimestoppers XL bully ban report figures

Contact Crimestoppers

Since 1 February 2024, it has been a criminal offence to own an XL bully without an exemption certificate in England and Wales. These rules will take full effect in Scotland and Northern Ireland later this year.

Since the ban came into force, our charity has taken over 2,500 reports given anonymously about XL bullies by concerned members of the public, as mentioned on Channel 5 TV’s Live at 5 news programme on Thursday, 1 August.

Some of these reports included information about XL bullies being unmuzzled, which is also breaking the law.

Registered XL bully dogs must be housed securely, kept on a lead and muzzled in public, but not in their home.

Information can be given anonymously to our charity about crime at any time by completing a safe and secure online form or by calling our 24/7 UK-based Contact Centre on 0800 555 111.
