Crimestoppers Kent Volunteer Committee Chair Coronation Champion for outstanding service
Our Crimestoppers in Kent Volunteer Committee Chair Peter Rolington has been chosen out of thousands nationwide to be one of only 500 Coronation Champions, for his outstanding contribution to his local community.
Mr Rolington, who is also a volunteer Chair for west Kent Neighbourhood Watch, was invited to attend a garden party as part of the official Coronation celebrations on Wednesday 3 May, 2023. He has spent the last two decades volunteering for both organisations, as well as leading battlefield tours for the Kent Police Cadets.
A retired accountant, Mr Rolington was nominated by Kent Police after the Royal Voluntary Service invited people across the UK to nominate their volunteer heroes. Out of almost 5,000 entries, he was one of 500 people recognised by their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort and the Royal Voluntary Service for his commendable contribution.
He has received a specially designed official Coronation Champion pin and a certificate signed by their Majesties.
On receiving the news of his nomination, Peter Rolington said: “It is an honour to be nominated as a Coronation Champion. I don’t do any of it for recognition but because I feel that giving back to the community is the right thing to do.”
