Sexual harassment incidents going unreported by teenage girls

A new report shows a 25% increase in sexual offences or harassment being reported to the British Transport Police. However, the police believe that sexual harassment is still largely under-reported by teenage girls.

There are many reasons why someone may chose not to go to the police, and so our charity is there for those who want to report anonymously.

As a charity, we have taken an active role in the fight against violence against women and girls. In January 2023 we commissioned and published a report into sexual harassment which revealed a lifetime prevalence of unwanted sexual harassment towards women and girls starting from as young as 6 years old.

Following this report, Crimestoppers has run many campaigns, including our national campaign in January 2024, to raise awareness and to nudge people to report perpetrators either directly to the authorities or anonymously via our charity.
