Mark Hallas OBE

Chief Executive

Mark Hallas is the Chief Executive of Crimestoppers.

As someone who has worked extensively in the military and intelligence, Mark has a life-long interest in public safety and security. In his 30 year career in the British Army, Mark served in varied intelligence and security roles with tours in Afghanistan, Germany, Northern Ireland, Sierra Leone, Belize and the USA. His final posting was as Director Intelligence Corps, leading the Army’s professional intelligence and security division.  

Having returned to civilian life, he has a commitment to helping make our communities safer by giving people the confidence to speak up about crime. He leads on the overall development and direction of Crimestoppers to ensure we help more people overcome their fears on reporting crime.

With the backdrop of austerity, one of his key priorities is to safeguard future funding. With this in mind, he led a root and branch review of operations which was a key feature of the Charity’s current 5 year strategy.

Mark works closely with Directors, Trustees and Volunteers to ensure we are as effective a service as possible. This includes fostering key relationships with Police and Crime Commissioners, Chief Constables, Home Office Ministers and Senior Civil Servants, as well as partners in the commercial and Third Sector.
