What is a hate crime?
Hate crime is when someone targets you because of your:
- Race
- Religion/faith
- Sexual orientation
- Disability
- Transgender identity
Someone can be a victim of more than one type of hate crime.
The Equality Act 2010
The Equality Act came into effect in October 2010 and protects UK citizens from discrimination in the workplace and in wider society.
