Goodbye Ahmed

Goodbye Ahmed

Goodbye & Thank you Ahmed

Last week, we said a heartfelt goodbye to Ahmed, who’s been working with our Scotland team through a Paid Work Placement.

Ahmed brought valuable lived experience to our New Scots project in Glasgow, helping young people going through the asylum process to know about our vital charity and the translation service that we offer.

The six-month placement was designed to support young adults who’ve faced barriers to employment, giving them mentoring and space to build confidence and skills for the future. And we’re delighted to say: mission accomplished.

Ahmed leaves us with permanent housing and a brand new job - such an incredible step forward, and so well deserved!

Before he left, we asked Ahmed to reflect on his time with us:

How did you feel when you got the job?

"I felt really happy and proud. It was exciting to be given the chance to be part of a team doing important work, and I was looking forward to learning new things."

What has been your favourite bit of your time here?

"My favourite part has been feeling part of such a welcoming and supportive team. I also really enjoyed researching the different refugee services in Glasgow - it opened my eyes to how much is happening locally."

What is something you’ve learned that you’ll take with you?

"I’ve learned how important it is to listen to people’s experiences and to approach this kind of work with empathy. It’s something I’ll carry with me in whatever I do next.

Thanks again for all your support – I’ve really enjoyed my time at Fearless."

A huge thank you to Ahmed for everything you’ve brought to the team. We’re all wishing you the very best in this next chapter!
