Gloucester Anti Violence Campaign
Fearless is starting a conversation about crime and violence in Gloucester.
Gloucester Anti Violence Campaign
On February 16th, The Bee anti-violence monument will arrive in Gloucester and be a catalyst for conversations with young people about crime and violence, encouraging them to speak up – particularly if they’re worried about a friend or family member involved in violence or in danger of being drawn into criminal activity.
The Bee is made from weapons seized off the streets and is the creation of the British Ironwork Centre. Its arrival in Gloucester marks one year since the Knife Angel sculpture came to Gloucester Cathedral, and the resulting conversations contributed to a 50% increase in information about criminal activity being reported through Crimestoppers across Gloucestershire.
To support the arrival of the Bee in Gloucester, Fearless is running a campaign that aims to raise the profile of the anonymous reporting service that Fearless.org provides and build trust and confidence in the local community around speaking up and reporting crime. The campaign will focus on the difference between snitching and reporting and how to speak up about violent crime 100% anonymously.
We are encouraging young people to have the confidence to speak up with information they know. We’re also helping young people to be active bystanders.
This project is being funded by the Knife Angel Legacy Fund, Crimestoppers and Gloucester BID, and is being supported by partners across the county, including: The Hollie Gazzard Trust, The Music Works, Hundred Heroines, Gloucester CitySafe, Nettl, 1st Call Plant Ltd, Gloucestershire College and Hartpury University and College.
