Fearless in Langley
#BeFearless in Langley
We're Fearless, part of the independent charity Crimestoppers. We believe that everyone has a right to feel safe. And we know you want that too.
We give you info that will help you separate the myths and facts surrounding crimes, and spot potential signs, so that you can make positive choices that help keep everyone safe.
It can feel hard to speak up if someone you know is doing something wrong.
You may be worried about being called a grass or a snitch.
Perhaps you’re scared that they’ll find out it was you that spoke out and that they won’t be your mate any more.
Sometimes, though, speaking up is really important – it might help to get your mate out of more serious trouble.
We give you a safe way to pass on info, 100% anonymously. Always.
Is Fearless really anonymous?
Yes! Anonymous means your identity is completely unknown.
Nobody will ever know the information came from you.
We can’t track your phone number, email address or IP address. And we never take any other contact details or personal information about you.
You can tell us what you know about any crime in your area by filling in our online form or calling us on 0800 555 111.
If someone you know is involved in things like shoplifting or selling drugs, it could be part of bigger, more serious criminal activity. They may be being forced to commit these crimes and can’t find a way out. It’s called criminal exploitation.
Some of the crimes someone may be forced into:
Shoplifting: There are different reasons why people shoplift but, sometimes, it’s because they’re being forced into it by criminals.
People sometimes think it’s a victimless crime but it’s not. It causes fear and anxiety to shop workers. It results in shops losing money and so they have to put their prices up. Everyone in the local community starts to feel less safe.
If you know someone involved in shop theft or selling stolen goods, if you’ve seen something suspicious, or if you know who is forcing others to commit these crimes, you can speak up, 100% anonymously ALWAYS.
We can’t track your device or any contact details. No one will know the information came from you.
Dealing drugs: It might not seem like that big a deal, but selling drugs affects people’s lives – those bereaved because of overdoses, those whose lives are overwhelmed by substance use and those who are being threatened into dealing drugs.
Often young people and adults going through difficult times can be exploited by serious organised crime gangs. The criminals do this to make money and avoid being caught, leaving someone else to get into trouble.
These gangs don’t care who gets hurt. But we know you do.
If you know or suspect who is importing, manufacturing, selling drugs or criminally exploiting people, you can speak up to our charity 100% anonymously ALWAYS.
We can’t track your device or any contact details.
It’s not grassing – it’s life-saving.
Carrying a weapon: Most young people don’t carry a knife or other weapon, and it is illegal to do so.
Occasionally, someone might be forced into it by someone else. They agree to do it because they’re scared of that person, or because they think it will make them an important member of the gang.
But it’s never okay for anyone to ask you or force you to hold onto a weapon for them. Good friends would never ask you to do this because they know it could get you into trouble or hurt you.
If this is happening to you or a mate, it’s important to speak up – it might be life-saving. Talk to a trusted adult or tell our charity 100% anonymously.
