North Wales Police Officer Susie Davies is set run the London Marathon dressed as Supergirl to raise money for us.
She said: “I have friends and family who have been affected by crime and see the devastation that members of the public go through. Crimestoppers is a small charity but they do a lot of good work, providing the police with anonymous information from the public that helps to solve crimes. This is a great chance to show my support for the charity and be part of such an exciting event.”
A huge achievement
Completing the marathon on April 24 will be a huge achievement for Susie – who lost four stone four years ago and has been competing in challenge events ever since.
She said: “I'm not a runner but have worked hard to get through this without stopping. Four years ago I was a lot heavier. I have lost 4 stone and competed in various events in order to keep up my training and exercise so that I keep the weight off. I have always wanted to take part in the marathon but never thought I would get the opportunity or be able to run that far. It is such an iconic event and can't believe I have this chance.”
Susie began her training in November last year with a friend and they’ve completed the Conwy and Anglesey Half Marathons as part of their training.
Excited by the challenge
As race day approaches, she admits she’s nervous but excited by the challenge.
She added: “I want to just enjoy it on the day, take in the atmosphere and complete it. I know my children will be looking forward to seeing my medal.”
