Reward of up to £10,000 for information on Ayrshire murder

28 August 2015

Today we are offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information on the brutal murder of a ‘well-liked’ pensioner in Ayrshire.

Malcolm Ballantyne, 72, known as Malky, was found at his home in Glebe Place, Saltcoats, by a family member shortly after 1pm om Friday 21 August 2015.

A vicious attack with fatal injuries

The victim had been viciously attacked and suffered injuries that prevented him from being saved.

Malcolm was a well-liked and respected member of the community and no motive has been established for the attack.

Police would like to speak to anyone who might have seen Malcolm the day before his death (20 August 2015) to help with their investigation.

Now we are offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information, which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Malcolm’s murder.*

Well-liked individual

Angela Parker, our National Manager for Scotland, said: “Malcolm was a well-liked, well respected man within the community and this is why we and the police are at a loss as to why someone would have committed this callous crime.

“I’d ask anyone who may have been in the area at the time of this attack to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you have any information, no matter how small, safe in the knowledge nobody will know you spoke to us.”
