Crimestoppers Scotland is supporting a new campaign to remind drivers of the new drink drive limit in Scotland.
From December 5, the limit will be lowered from 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood to 50mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood, bringing Scotland in line with most of Europe.
Angela Parker, National Manager for Crimestoppers Scotland, said: “Government statistics currently show that around 20,000 drivers are stopped by the police every month.
“By drink driving you not only put your life at risk but the lives of other people.
“This change will hopefully reduce drink driving arrests and prosecutions and make the roads safer for everyone.”
Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Kenny MacAskill, added: “With the approval of Parliament, the new drink drive limit will come into force on December 5, making our roads safer and saving lives. We are doing everything we can to make sure everyone is informed about the new lower level.”
