Break the Cycle of Crime_May2014_4001 May 2014

With bike thefts costing London over £10 million a year, we are supporting the Metropolitan Police Service's Safer Transport Command (STC) crack down on theft in the capital. Since 2010, STC have made over 300 cycle theft-related arrests and we are pleased to be supporting this campaign.

Cycle theft poster campaign

Bespoke posters will be appearing in public locations such as second hand cycle shops where people may be able to provide information about known thefts. This campaign hopes to gather more detailed information about London's most active cycle thieves. Professional cycle thieves steal thousands of bikes each year and make significant financial gain. Often, stolen cycles are sold on to members of the public who are unaware that they have been stolen.

Keeping your bike secure

Getting your bike registered is a visible deterrent to bike thieves. If someone is caught in possession of a registered bike, the rightful owner can be traced and the thief will be arrested.

To get your bike registered, you can do this online with BikeRegister.

Cycle theft affects many individuals across the capital, not only costing victims financially but also causing great inconvenience to commuters unable to use their preferred transport travel to and from work.
