The local Crimestoppers team in Suffolk has recruited a new chair and he wants others interested in making Suffolk safer to join him.

Current Chief Executive of Carmdale Ltd and a Director of Elle Security Group, Mark Corder, officially took up his post as committee chair this week.

“We currently only have a handful of volunteers in Suffolk so my first priority as chair is to recruit even more dedicated volunteer committee members; people who care about their community and want to help fight crime across the whole county by promoting the Crimestoppers’ anonymous service”.

He continued: “Suffolk is one of the safest counties in the UK but unfortunately crime does still occur. Sometimes people know about crime occurring or criminals operating in their area but are concerned about reporting it to Police for fear of reprisal.

"Crimestoppers removes that fear and allows them to give information 100% anonymously. No names or personal details are taken, calls are not traced or recorded and they don’t have to give a statement to the police or go to court. The fact that the charity has not revealed anyone’s identity in 25 years should give peace of mind”.

Ann Scott, Crimestoppers Eastern Region Manager, commented: “We are delighted to have Mark join us. Through increased activity this year with Mark on board we hope to make more people aware of the vital service we provide and encourage them to give information about crime which will take more criminals off the streets of Suffolk.

"We are currently looking for new talent to join the committee; in particular a vice-chair, secretary, treasurer and those with good IT skills. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for Crimestoppers, please contact us."
