Assistant Chief Constable Michael Ball handed over a giant cheque for £1,244.00 to Sue Thompson, Chair of Hertfordshire Crimestoppers, during a presentation ceremony at Police Headquarters [18 June 2014].
Officers from the Force Control Room and the Mobile Data Project had worked together to raise money for Crimestoppers after one of their colleagues had completed the London Marathon earlier in the year for the national branch of the charity.
During March and April they ran a raffle in the canteen at County Headquarters using three wonderful prizes that had been kindly donated by local businesses. The response and support from colleagues who bought the tickets was outstanding and the Grand Draw took place on 1st May.
Assistant Chief Constable Michael Ball said: "We have been delighted to show our support for the work being done by the volunteers at Hertfordshire Crimestoppers. We work closely with them on a daily basis in our Force Intelligence department, and value the work they do to promote safer communities and to help reduce crime."
Sue Thompson personally thanked the officers who had been involved with the fundraising, and hoped that the close relations between the Constabulary and Crimestoppers continued in the future.
