A Nottinghamshire Police Officer is set to tackle his first ever marathon to help fight crime in the UK.
Daniel Vasper, from Mansfield, will run the world-famous 26.2-mile course in London on April 24th on behalf of crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers.
The 24-year-old says he’s seen the negative impact that crime can have and hopes to make a difference with his fundraising.
He said: “As a police officer I work with people affected by crime every day and I know what great work Crimestoppers does to help perpetrators of crime to be caught.
“I’m really hoping that the money I raise will help to make a difference.”
Since signing up for the run, Daniel has put himself through a gruelling training regime – running three to four times a week.
He said: “Training is going well. It's tough and hard work but I am really enjoying it.”
Daniel will have the support of his fiancée and daughter on the day as well as the Crimestoppers team.
He added: “Completing a marathon is such an achievement, but to complete the London Marathon as my first will be really amazing.
