Independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers is today facilitating a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to the arrest of three men wanted in connection with an aggravated robbery in Ashbourne.

The robbery took place at around 9pm on Sunday 13th September 2015, at a property in Ednaston, near Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

Men armed with crowbars

A couple in their sixties were at home watching television when three men wearing balaclavas and armed with crowbars entered the house via an insecure back door. They made straight for the lounge where they immediately incapacitated the gentleman by making him lie on the floor and tying his hands together with plastic cable ties. They then cable-tied the lady's hands before demanding that she escort them to the safe and give them access.

A substantial amount of jewellery was removed from the safe and emptied into a large blue cotton bag. The victims were then locked inside a utility room and had cleaning fluid poured over their wrists before the offenders made good their escape. They were inside the property for as little as ten minutes.

The offenders are described as male and all wore similar clothing that consisted of waterproof-type coats and trousers with black fine knit balaclavas. They spoke in English with Eastern European accents and at one point two of the men spoke to each other briefly in a foreign language which sounded Eastern European.
