This male is wanted for an offence of affray. He shouted racially and religiously aggravating words towards the opposing group, together with another – and sought to kick down and break through the barriers erected to protect the opposing protesting groups from each other.Around 1200 hours on Sunday the 4th August 2024, a large group individuals gathered at Bolton Town Hall Square ready to protest outside the Town Hall set to start at 1300 hours. It was understood that the group intended to protest against Immigration into the UK.
A second large group of individuals met at Queens Park, Bolton earlier in the day and walked together to the Town Hall Square for 1300 hours to counter protest against the first group.
Gradually, both groups’ protests escalated into disorder and violence, with members from both sides throwing missiles towards Police Officers and each opposing group. Members of each group tried to break through the erected barriers and Police cordons. Several Public Order Offences were committed including Violent Disorder and Public Order – aggravated by way of hatred towards Race, Religion and Sexual Orientation. Further offences were also recorded including Possession of Offensive Weapons.
