Crimestoppers has been in partnership with Arriva Rail North (Northern) since 2006, and it remains the crime-fighting charity’s only rail partner.
As a business, Northern plays a vital role in the north of England by connecting tens of thousands of people to work, leisure and education every day, with its aim being to provide a railway the North can be proud of.
Northern’s partnership with Crimestoppers is a key part of its crime reduction strategy and helps to demonstrate the commitment it has to the communities it serves. Through the use of the Crimestoppers logo and call to action on public facing materials such as timetables, leaflets and passenger charters, Northern provides the public with a trusted route to give anonymous information about crime, and in turn helps them feel safer whilst on the network.
The partnership has been looking to support young people, and looked at ways to join up with our youth service Fearless in order to engage this audience on how to protect themselves, report incidents and be aware of the criminal consequences of rail related crime.
Northern has also expressed a desire to raise valuable funds for Crimestoppers, and with an impressive list of successful fundraising ventures with other charities over the years, we are delighted to have been selected as a cause worthy of staff and company support.
Northern’s commitment to tackling crimes that affect the rail industry and the general public who use its services is demonstrated through our longstanding partnership and through the rail operator’s other work in the areas of prevention and reduction of crime. We are proud to be partnered with such an innovative organisation which is leading the industry in tackling important issues, and we look forward to developing our partnership and sharing our successes in the future months and years.
